Order of the Hidden Seapriest Phoebe, friendly and devout, steady and decent.
A cleric who strictly adheres to the doctrines and practices self-restraint, yet still possesses a sincere heart that leaps with joy for the things she loves.
Colorful light and shadows float and dance, as fragmented light combines into magnificent and diverse patterns.
Every move she makes gathers the radiance of hope, outlining the shape of light, and conveying warmth and tranquility.
The Marinos (Phoebe's parents) took Phoebe by boat tothe New FederationDuring their merchant journey, they encountered a shipwreck caused by a Tacet Tide, and only the young Phoebe survived. Since no one was willing to adopt the orphan of the Marino family, she was sent to the Hidden Sea Orphanage.
At the same time, the young Phoebe also showed traits different from her peers—she was exceptionally gentle and sensible[1], "Sentinelthe Divine Envoys" (Echoes) also showed a natural affinity for her[2]. During her time at the Hidden Sea Orphanage, Phoebe awakened herResonance Ability, and was subsequently recommended to joinOrder of the Hidden Seato become a priest.
RoverEntryRinascitaWhen being questioned by the priests of the Hidden Sea Order upon entry, Phoebe arrived at the scene to stabilize the situation, brought the Rover into the city, and proudly introduced the state of Echoes in Rinascita and the history of Laguna City's founding.
Phoebe, accompanied by the Echoes Rabi and Beni, was searching for the Echo Bambu when she met with the Rover andZanyMeeting Againas well as beingAbbyTeasing: "Bambu" isn't here, but "Abu" is here~. Phoebe apologized to the Rover for the previous Echo out-of-control incident. During the conversation, Phoebe spotted Bambu running back from where it was, but Bambu then ran past the group, so they chased after it together.
While following Bambu, the group saw Gilbert praying sneakily. After restraining Gilbert, he claimed that the Fissare family had already taken control ofLoreley, at which point the Sea of Clouds would submerge all of Laguna. Phoebe explained Loreley's mission to control the Sea of Clouds to the Rover and decided to intervene in the investigation in the name of the Order, keeping Gilbert under control.
After handing Gilbert over to the family, Phoebe and Zany went to the port and headed to the Courtyard in the Clouds (Seminary) with the Rover. At this time, the Seminary had fallen into a state of madness. After deducing that a "Hymn" must be sung to open the barrier to find Loreley, Phoebe sang the "Saint's Aria," successfully opening the barrier.
The awakened Loreley seemed very angry, calling the "song" a hypocritical melody and attacking the group. After Loreley was subdued and purified, the petals of the Fractsidus fell off. Loreley stated that the "masked oath-breaker" had polluted the Sea of Clouds with flowers and trapped her in a nightmare until Phoebe's singing and the group's cooperation rescued her. After describing the clues about the "oath-breaker," Loreley entered the dream again to struggle and repair the Sea of Clouds.
After hearing Loreley's description, Phoebe decided to bid farewell to the Rover for the time being and return to the Order for the sake of the Carnival's order.
At the Carnival, Phoebe fulfilled her mission as a monastic to maintain order. The Rover helped Phoebe take photos with the Echoes.
After the Carnival crisis ended,Colettacontacted Phoebe to investigate "Kathesia" this name, Phoebe discovered that Katricia was the real name of the Saint Flutura, but she should have been martyred 20 years ago.
Phoebe plans to visit several holy sites in Laguna for pilgrimage during her vacation and invites the Rover to join her. During the journey, Phoebe acts as the Rover's guide and introduces various landscapes of Laguna.
The Order decides to send a "treasure" to the Mortari vault for safekeeping and dispatches Phoebe for the transport. The vault decides to evacuate all staff and sends Zanni to receive her. Colette also invites her most trusted person—the Rover—and grants them special permissions. The three head to the deep layers of the vault together, where it is rumored that the most precious treasures of all Laguna are kept, along with the legend of Everard's Vault's secret hoard.
As they are about to enter the precious metals and artworks storage area, alarms blare, and the vault guards enter a state of alert, becoming hostile toward the three. Zanni realizes that the vault's security mode has been forcibly activated and communication with the outside is cut off, leaving the three trapped in the deep layers of the vault. To leave the vault, Zanni decides to use the special permissions Colette gave the Rover to go to various security control rooms to obtain higher clearance and monitor the situation through surveillance screens.
Through the surveillance screens, the three learn that someone named "Ash" tampered with the hidden security module. Ash was the creator of the vault's security facilities but had passed away long ago. During their investigation, they encounter a lone person calling herself "Livi," but her memory is confused. To avoid accidents, the three take her with them as they evacuate.
The Rover, Phoebe, and Zanni discover dropped remnants during their investigation, all of which are letters written by Ash in the tone of a "Grandpa." Zanni deduces that the intruder is Ash's grandson, who locked himself in the vault to investigate his grandfather's past without interference while the vault was unmanaged. The three decide to head to the final station to intercept the intruder.
After restraining Ash's grandson, Little Ash questions why the Mortari family persecuted his family and took his grandfather away. At this point, Livi, having recovered all her memories, reveals the truth: she, Old Ash, and others were researchers in various fields who were persecuted by the Order and forced to stop their research because they discovered the Order's shameful history. At their request, the Mortaris pretended to build a prison but actually provided protection for these researchers, allowing them to create freely within the "prison" at the cost of disappearing from the surface forever. She and Old Ash had long since left their lives there, existing as ghost-like echoes. After everyone passed away, the various creations left by the researchers became the first collection of the underground vault. The Mortaris then turned the "prison" into a vault to preserve this history.
The Order's "treasure" in Phoebe's hand emits a brilliant light, purifying the "souls" of the researchers and declaring them innocent. The most precious treasure in all of Laguna is actually the spirit of pursuing truth despite persecution. And the "Everard's Vault's secret hoard" mentioned by the researchers refers to the large tree seen on the final stretch of the road to the underground prison.
To find the Sea-Tracing Whale, which has been in an abnormal state and went missing after the Carnival, Phoebe goes to Riccioli Island to investigate. She is met with cold stares from fishermen who distrust the Order, but she also encounters the Rover, who came to fish, and their mentor, Captain Ahab. After briefly explaining her purpose, the Rover and Ahab decide to join the investigation. Phoebe and the Rover then go out to sea to fish and look for clues.
After lighting all the lighthouses and solving the riddles of the three ghosts, Phoebe obtains all the inscriptions. By interpreting the inscriptions on the island, Phoebe believes that the Sea-Tracing Whale bears the responsibility of guiding the souls of the dead at sea to the afterlife, and the "Sirens" currently invading this sea area may be creatures similar to Lorelei. Phoebe and the Rover decide to go to the deep-sea abyss to deal with Lorelei. However, Captain Ahab and his crew's whereabouts are unknown. Brandt, entrusted by Ahab, arrives on the Pequod to become the new captain and takes Phoebe and the Rover to the deep-sea abyss.
Lorelei flees in panic, destroying the deep-sea abyss she created. Just as everyone is about to be swallowed by the seawater, the Sea-Tracing Whale saves them and brings them to the shore. Phoebe expresses her gratitude to the Sea-Tracing Whale. Ishmael tells everyone that Captain Ahab and his crew perished at sea over a decade ago; they continued to exist in the world only because of their love for the sea and their promise to the Sea-Tracing Whale, until Brandt became the new captain and took Phoebe and the Rover to defeat Lorelei.
Phoebe and the members of the Hidden Sea Order head to the Seven Hills to participate in the confrontationBlack Tidethe final battle.
After the final battle,Phoebe finally realized that the "Sentinel's Divine Voice" was entirely relayed by Catricia, including the suggestion to have Green-branch Laurel Salad for dinner, which was merely based on the latter's personal preference. The Rover passed the Box of Civilization left by Sentinel Imperator (which records Rinascita's past and represents its future) to Phoebe to guide her through her confusion about the future, stating that "the future is already in your own hands."

| A Priest's Daily Life (Unlocks at Intimacy Level 1) |

On an ordinary afternoon, the wide streets of Laguna were bustling with people, looking even livelier than in previous years. The long-awaited Carnival was about to be held again—the news had already spread through every street and alley of Laguna and across the sea. In recent days, many foreign travelers had appeared in the city, and even though it wasn't dinner time yet, Margaret Restaurant was still filled with diners who had come for its reputation. Laguna's fine wine is as unforgettable as its beautiful scenery. Honeydew fruit wine can lead people into sweet dreams, but being too intoxicated can occasionally lead to accidents. It started as a small disagreement over taste, which then evolved into a heated argument. Perhaps tired of suppression, or perhaps the drowsy afternoon required some invigorating entertainment, more people gathered and joined the argument. —The argument intensified, eventually turning into a duel. For a moment, the restaurant seemed to become a theater scene, with pizza and cake flying everywhere, and seafood moving from plates to the faces of passersby. The onlookers fled in panic, yet couldn't help but look back from a distance to follow the battle. "Customer! Don't do that-jiu, the plates are going to break-jiu, please put down the utensils, it's dangerous-jiu!!" The owner's tail fur stood on end, jumping up and down in anxiety with a pizza shovel, but not daring to approach the center of the chaos. Just then, a petite figure darted out from the crowd. "—Please calm down!" The cane, held high, traced an elegant arc in the air. The golden bird descending through the air seemed to possess immense weight, yet it ultimately only gave a light tap on the forehead, like a dragonfly skimming the water's surface, creating ripples. The two men, who were raging just a second ago, calmed down instantly. With serene smiles as if baptized by holy light, they collapsed straight onto the table and began to snore in unison.
The petite blonde cleric put away her cane and said solemnly, "However, according to the Order's management regulations, those who disturb public order must receive appropriate punishment." "The virtue of temperance is a gift bestowed upon us by the Lord of Years, and it is for this reason that fine food and nectar taste even sweeter... I hope this little interlude won't stop you from continuing to enjoy your time in Laguna." The blonde cleric's smile was gentle and warm, while the surroundings were deathly silent.
"Yes, yes, I saw it with my own eyes! She knocked those two big guys silly with one strike of her cane! Then, out of nowhere, a giant puppet appeared and carried them both away! She doesn't look very old; appearances can really be deceiving..." A customer who stayed behind to help clean up the mess described the scene with animated gestures. The leading cleric took out a terminal to record the incident, only to find that a report had already been sent to the Order, detailing the cause, the process, and the arrangements made for the two individuals who were taken away. "...Um, is everything okay now?" "Of course," the cleric replied confidently, putting away the terminal. "Leave it to Cleric Phoebe; she's the most experienced." |

Dear Mr. Claremont: I apologize for not contacting you for so long. I have been busy with many matters and had too many issues to handle. It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of this tragic news: our partners, the Marinos, were attacked by a Phantasm Tide while traveling to the New Federation and have unfortunately passed away. May they find peace under the guidance of the Lord of Years. ...Regarding the payment for the goods lost at sea, according to the contract signed previously, I have begun selling the Marino family's remaining assets on their behalf... This is truly a last resort. As you know, we sacrificed almost everything for that business, and now we have no means to continue; this is the only way to fill the gap... You should remember Phoebe—that poor girl who lost her parents. She has nowhere to go now, and since I am away on business year-round, I am truly unable to care for her. I heard you are on good terms with the Marino family's distant relatives, and I hope you can take her in...
The repeated knocking had already drawn the neighbors' attention, yet there was still no response from inside. The little girl stood quietly behind me with her head down, seemingly used to such situations. "The whole family went on vacation a while ago," a passing neighbor mentioned casually. "They might not be back for a long time." "I understand, thank you... Let's go, Phoebe." As we left, I caught a glimpse of the curtains at the side window, which had a slight gap, trembling gently. I gripped Phoebe's hand and led her away from this opulent neighborhood. Laguna is a big city, but finding a home is hard. I've lost count of how many doors I've knocked on and how many times I've been turned away. Having worked at the orphanage for years, I'm used to all sorts of rejections, but I can't let Phoebe experience this. She's too young; she needs a warm, stable home that can heal her wounds. "I'm sorry... we sympathize with her, but adopting a child isn't as simple as adding another set of silverware... Here's a small token of our sympathy. Please try asking elsewhere." "A letter of entrustment? *Cough*... I don't recall receiving such a letter. Besides, hasn't she already been taken in by the orphanage? Living and eating with many children her age is a perfectly fine environment for a child to grow up in." "...I heard the Marino family's debts haven't been settled yet. We don't want creditors knocking on our door, so please understand." …… "Sister Isabella... don't be sad." An ice cream was held up high in front of me. Without me noticing, a group of small Echoes had gathered around, holding ice cream and sweets given to tourists, crowding around me—or rather, around Phoebe. "I know the uncles and aunties are very busy. Just like Mom and Dad, they always take a long time to come home." I stared blankly as I took the slightly melted ice cream, not expecting to be comforted by such a small child. The kind Marino couple had once sponsored the orphanage to help it through the disaster of the Tacet Tides, yet I couldn't even manage to find a trustworthy foster parent for their daughter. She should have been laughing freely in the warm embrace of her parents, living a stable and happy life under a solid roof. "It's okay, I can... live with everyone. Being with everyone makes me very happy." Seeing that I hadn't spoken for a long time, the young girl looked at me and gave a quiet smile that seemed almost comforting to me, making my heart tremble. "We won't be separated, right? The priests say that the Sentinel is by our side, binding us together so we won't be parted." She recited word by word, and in the end, I just held back the moisture in my eyes and took her into my arms. "Alright... then let's go back, back to our home." |
| Countless late nights (Unlocked after reaching Intimacy Level 3) |
|
The late-night storm seemed intent on pouring out all the water of Laguna; lightning cast the shape of the window frame onto the thin quilt, pressing crisscrossing shadows upon the curled-up girl. Phoebe did not sleep. As long as she closed her eyes, she would see a sea of churning, monstrous waves, with a lone ship that could never return home, and she was sinking along with it. On nights like this in the past, her father would place a locket with the Sentinel's image under her pillow, telling her that the Sentinel would lead her through the storm in her dreams to a safe harbor; her mother would place a bouquet of daisies by her bed and tell her bedtime stories, saying the Sentinel would send divine messengers to brave and kind children to protect their peace and happiness. And now, the priests would pat her head and tell her there were other children in similar situations, and that every Rinascitan must wade through suffering to receive the Sentinel's forgiveness at the end of their lives. Looking past the priest's arm, she saw the magnificent statue of the Sentinel for the first time. The giant fishtail caused her a moment of panic, but the gentle priests lightly held her shoulders, and the soft sound of their prayers gradually calmed her. She was led into a warm, bright room. The gentle priests treated her well, but they must surely prefer children who didn't cause trouble. Phoebe tried hard to recall the lullaby her mother used to hum, letting it echo in her mind to drown out the howling of the storm outside the window. Yet the ceaseless sound of thunder and rain still pulled her back to that night.
But the sea was not as gentle as in the stories her mother told. She heard hurried footsteps on the deck as the people's clamor gradually turned into one scream after another. The ship was swallowed by the storm and tossed high by the waves. She cried out for her parents, but the surging waves told her that they would never return. Submerged in the icy seawater, through her blurring vision, she saw the locket her father had left her sinking into the pitch-black depths of the ocean before vanishing. When she woke up again, she was lying on the shore, soaked to the bone, the Tacet Mark on her leg shimmering. The priests who found her said that no one had ever survived such a dangerous sea, let alone a girl so young; it must have been a blessing from the Sentinel. But Phoebe vaguely remembered that something had saved her, carrying an incredibly gentle aura, like a breeze lifting her to the surface and placing her softly on the shore, telling her... "Don't be afraid, I'm here." Something pulled Phoebe back from her deep dream. She felt a slight weight on the bed, as if something fluffy had leaned against her, carrying the dampness of the rainy night and the scent of daisies. Then, Phoebe saw a pair of button eyes and soft cloth ears—it was the stray Echo she had encountered by the Breezy Waterside during the day. Back then, she had untangled the kite string wrapped around it and named it Benny. Benny had introduced her to many new friends, watched the clouds with her on the hillside, wiped the tears from her eyes, and placed beautiful flower wreaths on her head. "Phoebe, don't be sad." The plush's body was warm and soft, and for a moment, she felt a familiar aura—the aura of the wind. She buried her head in its fluffy belly and slowly drifted off to sleep. |
| Morning came as usual. (Unlocked after reaching Intimacy Level 4) |
|
When she woke up, Phoebe felt as if a trace of moisture still lingered at the corners of her eyes. "By the Sentinel, I must cheer up today as well!" She jumped out of bed and skillfully smoothed the sheets; this small bed that had accompanied her growth was still exactly as she remembered it. Phoebe patted her cheeks to dispel the morning drowsiness and dove headfirst into her work schedule for the new day. The orphanage was going to hold a small celebration, and she had come with her senior to help with the preparations. This was her first time returning here since becoming a trainee priestess. She had talked with her brothers and sisters for a long time yesterday, which was perhaps why she dreamed of the past. Everyone said that Phoebe looked more like an independent adult now, and she couldn't let down their expectations. After morning prayer, Phoebe began preparing the items needed for the celebration. Life as a trainee priestess was busy and fulfilling; for her, completing work according to plan and seeing the results brought a sense of stability and satisfaction. By the time the sun hung high in the sky, she and her fellow priests had decorated the originally simple dining hall in vibrant colors. Phoebe placed tea and snacks on the table, watching the children, dressed in new clothes washed and ironed by the Echoes, joyfully rush into the arms of the sisters to receive carefully wrapped gifts. Touched by such a warm scene, Phoebe couldn't help but smile as well. She remembered that her father, who traveled far for trade, would always buy her a gift at the first stop of his journey. During the long voyage, her mother would conceive stories about the gifts he brought back and tell them to her after he returned home. Sometimes they were thrilling adventures filled with danger, and sometimes they were warm and cute bedtime stories. Her favorite gift was a pink rabbit plushie; in the stories, she was an elegant musician. The dark past was gradually blurring in her memory; she would only recall those beautiful things. A small Echo tugged at the corner of her clothes and showed her a large bunch of inflated balloons. She habitually reached out, wanting to pat its head. "Trainee Priestess Phoebe!" Her senior's sharp reprimand made Phoebe flinch. She quickly hid her hands behind her back and watched as the somewhat lonely little Echo wobbled away. Her senior's piercing gaze seemed to see right through her. "By the Sentinel, mind your status." ...She hadn't yet fully adjusted to the impact of her change in status, especially the rule that as a priestess, she could not have close contact with Echoes. The Sentinel had led her to meet kind people, provided her with necessities and shelter, and bestowed upon her new responsibilities, allowing her to repay the kindness she had received. No matter what, as a priestess, she had to fulfill her duties well. But when she was just "Phoebe," she also had her own time to meet with her friends. She subconsciously caressed the locket hanging from her waist. This was her own little miracle; her friends had retrieved her most precious memories from the pitch-black seabed and brought them back to her side. "Big Sister Phoebe, my balloon flew up into the tree, and I can't get it down... Jimmy said you can fly, so could you..." "Of course!" A child tugged at the corner of her clothes, bringing her back to her senses. She set aside her wandering thoughts and returned to the crowd, immersing herself once more in the busy work of the festival.
The work was over, the crowds had dispersed, and everything had grown quiet. Phoebe sat on a bench, closing her eyes to feel the gentle sea breeze. Time seemed to slow down at this moment. Her small silhouette looked somewhat lonely in the sunset. A senior who had come looking for Phoebe intended to speak to her, but upon drawing closer, noticed her shallow breathing; she had already drifted off to sleep. The girl slept soundly against the bench, while small Echoes crept out from the corners, huddling and snuggling close to her. The elder priest sighed, but then retracted his step and turned to leave. "This time... I'll just pretend I didn't see anything." |
| Amidst the distant, dazzling radiance (Unlocked after reaching Trust Level 5) |
|
Phoebe could still vaguely recall the last carnival she saw. She sat on her father's shoulders, watching the Sky Messengers soar overhead as colorful ribbons and petals fell like rain and waves of cheers swept over them. Her childhood memories were so hazy that when she looked back on the carnival, all she could recall was a soft glow and distant echoes. But she still remembered her parents' expressions at that time, those heartfelt laughs—the past that once brought heartache whenever recalled still shone brightly in the depths of her memory. Those scenes that only existed in dreams finally appeared vividly before her eyes. Standing in the crowd, she watched the black-haired "Hero" bathed in light, as the golden laurel crown slowly descended, landing on-[11]'s head. —Her heart fluttered along with it; amidst the deafening cheers, her gaze uncontrollably followed that golden light. "It's the laurel crown—!" "Imperator above—" "The Lord of the Year has performed a miracle!" Her vision blurred amidst the cries of joy and tears. Who wouldn't be moved by such a dazzling sight? Even the gods would perform miracles for this; at this moment, she couldn't help but think, how could the Lord of the Year be angered by people holding a carnival? He must love the carnival, love the laughter of the people. Those faint shadows that had shrouded her heart since returning from the Cloud Garden resurfaced, only to be instantly diluted by the songs and laughter. This time, she caught that thread of ethereal and drifting doubt—the things she had once vaguely noticed but forgotten; the things she had felt suspicious about but subconsciously forced herself not to think about. Phoebe blinked hard, wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, and looked again at the figure surrounded by the crowd. She vaguely felt that if it were-[11], perhaps the answer could be found and the confusion resolved. Someday, she would go looking for the answers to those questions. |
