After the Shibuya Incident, he was considered a potential combatant by Maki; he hopes the aftermath of the Shibuya Incident will lead to the legalization of underground casinos. Interrupted by Itadori and Fushiguro, he discussed business with Itadori after Itadori won a knockout match. During this, he discovered Itadori's identity due to Itadori's unusual behavior and Kirara Hoshi's phone signal, leading to a conflict. Later, moved by Itadori's fervor as a "cog," he agreed to help Itadori's group. Immediately after Hajime Kashimo rushed into the battlefield, Hakari suddenly appeared beside Uraume, who had come to intercept Kashimo, and pulled Uraume into his Domain so that Kashimo could duel Sukuna without interference. Almost at the same moment Kashimo died, Hakari's Domain shattered, and he fell toward Sukuna along with Uraume. Hakari was severely wounded multiple times by Uraume's "Ice Formation" as Uraume sought to end the fight quickly, but his rapid regeneration allowed him to suppress Uraume instead, leading the latter to remark that his "healing ability surpasses that of Sukuna and Satoru Gojo." Hakari was indifferent to Uraume's assessment that "you do not maintain your humanity like other modern sorcerers, so I will not treat you as human and will defeat you with all my might," meeting Uraume's technique with burning passion.
