At age 5, her mother died suddenly of unknown causes.
Two days before starting elementary school, she was taken by her father to go mountainclimbing, and they went missing together. A week later, only Rika was found in a mountain shelter near the summit. Her father remained missing after that, his whereabouts unknown.
Afterwards, when she wenthospitalto havea physical examination, she met Yuta who was hospitalized for pneumonia.Yuta Okkotsu. Afterwards, the two of them returned to the same elementary school.

- After Rika passed on and the curse was broken, she left behind a Shikigami named "Rika" for Yuta, which looks the same as her Cursed Spirit form and retains part of Rika's own consciousness.
