Ichika used to be someone who would take immediate action for her friends, always thinking before acting, and serving as the lubricant that smoothed over conflicts among the four of them. However, in the first year of middle school, Saki was hospitalized due to illness and was separated from her friends. In the second year of middle school, Ichika was placed in a different class from Shiho and Honami, but she would often go to find them. Shiho preferred being alone and was isolated by her classmates after repeatedly declining their invitations to hang out. Fearing that the rumors from her classmates would affect Ichika, she intentionally kept her distance. On the other hand, Honami was accused by her classmates of always putting on a smile for everyone, and she was slandered, mocked, and ignored. Although Ichika frequently noticed Honami's distress, she didn't know how to help because Honami couldn't open up to her. Honami also feared that the rumors from her classmates would affect Ichika and intentionally kept her distance. This situation lasted for about a year; Ichika tried to talk to Honami and Shiho many times, but they only grew further apart.
