Originally announced as a rival idol character on March 21, 2021, during Day 2 of Shiny Colors 2nd LIVE "STEP INTO THE SUNSET SKY" when the new unit SHHis was introduced. She isMikoto Aketa's former unit partner, appearing as a supporting character in the SHHis storyline. On the official website, she was categorized under "Others" alongside other idol units. Her initial profile on the official website was:

She belonged to the same agency as Aketa Mikoto before her transfer. She had known Mikoto since their trainee days and they hit it off well. At that time, Luca had a very bright personality and, like Mikoto, a strong ambition for her idol career. Later, the two formed a unit, but Mikoto's singing and dancing skills were so outstanding that Luca was at risk of becoming a mere foil to her. The agency then adjusted its policy to highlight Luca's individual persona as a selling point, which instead led to Luca's solo explosion in popularity (the solo live mentioned in the [Blind Driver] story as a turning point, where Luca, struggling to perform without Mikoto by her side and in poor physical condition, won over the audience with her self-destructive figure, triggering an increase in solo activities). Realizing she couldn't become the idol she wanted to be while with Luca, Mikoto left Luca and the agency she had belonged to for 10 years. |

And Ikaruga Luca's mother happens to be the one whom 283 Production PresidentTsutomu Amaionce produced as a wildly popular idol back thenNami Yakumo, and back then, due to Tenjou Tsutomu's stubbornness, their clash of ideals led to a bitter parting, and Yakumo Nami, unable to bear Tenjou Tsutomu's constraints, chose a sudden retirement. (Chronologically, it seems she gave birth to Luca shortly after, though the circumstances are unknown.) Luca knew Tenjou Tsutomu from a young age and disliked him immensely. (However, after Yakumo Nami retired, Tenjou Tsutomu and Nichika's father, Lawyer Nanakusa, worked together to protect Nami's life from being disturbed (at that time, it was highly likely that Nami was embroiled in scandals or targeted by rumors and found it difficult to live a peaceful life after retirement), the young Luca was even soothed with chocolate by Lawyer Nanakusa.) |
All of this makes Luca hold a strong hostility towards 283 Production as a whole, especially viewing Nichika as an enemy who stole Mikoto, even though their attitudes of worship towards Mikoto are actually very similar.Furthermore, Luca's mother Nami was Nichika's idol inspiration, motivation for entering the industry, and role model, so for Nichika, Luca is literally the "[Oshi no Ko]", and for Luca, Nichika should be considered the daughter of a benefactor, though neither of them is aware of this. There is also a high degree of synchronization in that both of them, after forming units with Mikoto, became more popular than Mikoto by selling their personas despite their stage skills being inferior to hers.
Joining 283
On March 19, 2023, at Shiny Colors 5th LIVE "If I_wings." Day 2, it was announced that she would join 283PRO. Subsequently, includingRina Kawaguchiher, all performers sang "Dye the sky.], after the announcement of this news, the 5th Live official website was also updated with the main visual, adding Luca Ikaruga's standing illustration in the center. Consequently, the Hiori Kazano commemorative Support card 【if I_wings】, which used this visual, became the first card to feature Luca Ikaruga. Later, on the official YouTube channel, the reason for her joining 283pro was supplemented through a rare out-of-game story video. At the end of the SHHis unit event SEVEN#th (セヴン＃ス), the Producer presents a certain project proposal to President Tsutomu Amai. Under the influence of SHHis-related plotlines, Luca is dominated by a sense of loss and falls into a state of withdrawal, locking herself in her room with no intention of continuing idol activities. Her manager (a young woman), who has always cared for her, painstakingly tries to alleviate Luca's emotions to no avail. The manager entrusts Luca to the 283 Producer, who came to negotiate, and then goes abroad. Luca discovers that the person delivering food outside her door every day has changed to a background character from the agency, only then learning that her manager has left her and the reason why: her manager had already obtained a long-coveted opportunity to study abroad, and her fiancé was waiting for her overseas to start a new life; she had only repeatedly postponed her plans because she couldn't let go of Luca. (The aforementioned 5th Live main visual, in addition to adding Luca, also added a contrail in the sky as a tribute to Luca's manager). Luca's mindset shifts, and she decides to leave her original agency, realizing that she, who positioned herself as the "plundered," was also plundering others by affecting her manager's future and happiness. She later falls ill and is cared for by the Producer and Hazuki.[2]Still possessing a lingering passion for her idol career, Luca chooses to join 283PRO to continue her idol life, but she refuses to integrate into 283PRO's "playing family" atmosphere and rejects the Producer's interference, adopting a completely solitary attitude, her heart still in a state of desolation. Even when treated kindly by other idols in the cross-unit event "BY SPIRAL," her outlook does not change. |
CoMETIK Formation
On July 23, 2023, during Day 2 of the Shiny Colors Solo LIVE "我儘なまま" (Still Selfish), a PV for the new unit CoMETIK was released, announcing the addition of two new idols, Hana Suzuki and Haruki Ikuta, as members of the new unit alongside Luca. They would debut first in the newly launched spin-off music game "THE IDOLM@STER SHINY COLORS Song for Prism". Silhouettes of Hana and Haruki also appeared on both sides of Luca's page on the browser game's official website, and Luca Ikaruga's solo unit logo was painted black and became fragmented, foreshadowing the transformation into CoMETIK. On November 6, 2023, the browser game's official X (Twitter) announced that CoMETIK would launch in December, and the "Luca Ikaruga" solo unit on the official website was officially replaced by CoMETIK.
After the announcement of the new unit, an interactive event was held on the rhythm game's official X (Twitter) for the new unit's self-introductions and answering fan questions. While the two newcomers interacted closely with each other, they mentioned Luca in a minimal way that seemed friendly (but considering Luca's personality and the gap in idol experience, it appeared very flippant or even offensive). This sparked speculation about the relationship between Luca and the new characters in the unit. In the fan Q&A session, Luca responded to all questions with "no comment."
Biblical Allusions in Names
Many settings and song titles for SHHis and Luca reveal Christian elements, such as SHHis's debut song "OH MY GOD" and Luca's solo song "神様は死んだ、って》(God is Dead, it is said) There are multiple mentions in the Bible of using doves as sacrifices to God, where the Japanese version of the Bible (山鳩か家鳩) corresponds to the Chinese Bible translation "turtledove or young pigeon," one instance of which is in the New Testament, Luke 2:24. (This is also the reason for translating Luca as Luke), which also establishes a unique symbolic connection between Luca and 283's Center, Mano.
Interpersonal Relationships
- For a long time after joining 283, she handled her personal affairs alone, distrusted the Producer, completely ignored the Producer's attempts to help or intervene, and rejected communication with the Producer, only happily mocking him on occasions when he made a fool of himself.
- Since their time as partners, she has been captivated by Mikoto's attitude and skill as an idol, placing Mikoto in a position more important than herself, and holding a hostile attitude toward Mikoto's new partner Nichika. In the "セヴン＃ス" story, when she got the chance to partner with Mikoto again, she realized that Mikoto had become a stranger after joining SHHis. Since Luca joined 283PRO, there have been no depictions of interactions between Luca and SHHis at this stage.
- In the crossover event "線たちの12月," she happened to coachHiori Kazano's practice, feeling that she was somewhat similar in personality toMikoto Aketa(not realizing she was from 283 because she wasn't wearing glasses), and expressed appreciation for Hiori's upright character. Since Luca joined 283PRO, there have been no depictions of interactions between Luca and Hiori at this stage, but some players see Hiori as the key to integrating Luca into 283PRO.
- She calls her mother "Mama" (using the Japanese homophone), takes great care of her, and loves eating the Napolitan pasta her mother makes. When in emotional pain, she repeats the self-motivation mantra her mother taught her: "ぎゅってすれば大丈夫" (Everything will be fine if you just hold on tight).
- She loathes Tsutomu Amai. In the final chapter of "モノラル・ダイアローグス," while Luca was eating pasta in a restaurant, she saw Tsutomu Amai and immediately lost her appetite, saying, "このナポリタン……最悪な味がする" (This Napolitan... tastes terrible). This line became one of Luca's most representative quotes and was even printed on pasta plates as official merchandise.
- After the Producer proposed forming CoMETIK as a trio with Hana and Haruki, she believed the Producer was using her as a stepping stone to promote the newcomers. As a result of Haruki taking the lead and working with Hana to get closer to Luca, the three eventually stood on a new stage together, though the specific depiction of this process was skipped and remains to be supplemented in the future.
- Since the 2025 storyline, Luca's attitude has noticeably softened. Not only does she have more positive interactions with other idols, but her attitude toward the Producer has shifted from rejection to a sort of playing-hard-to-get ambiguity.Described as a stray cat that has finally warmed up to its owner.

Upon hearing "283," Luca immediately falls into a fit of manic laughter, imagining that Mikoto made this arrangement just to provoke her. At that moment, Mikoto calmly responds, "What? It has nothing to do with you, Luca, right?"
This line, reflecting Mikoto's dense and detached personality and the imbalance in their relationship, has since been frequently quoted by players, becoming a signature meme associated with Luca, significantly solidifying her "loser heroine" attribute.
