Anju Emma is a mixed-blood Alba who was frequently discriminated against even in the 86th District; she has insulting English words carved into her back. She was forcibly conscripted and later transferred to serve in the Spearhead Squadron. During her service, she developed feelings for Daiya, a fellow squadron member, and once danced with him at a party. After her lover died in battle, she went through a period of depression. Later, she participated in the "Special Reconnaissance Mission" and survived, transferring to the Giad Federacy military system along with her other teammates. In the new army, she belongs to the special unit "Nordlicht" and pilots an XM2 Reginleif equipped with a rocket launcher. She experienced the terrifying bombardment of the Morpho and participated in the campaign against the Railgun Type; during the battle, she took the initiative to cover the retreat for the captain, "Shin," and survived the engagement. Afterward, she participated in the mission to aid the United Kingdom of Roa Gracia, where she and Dustin Jaeger were trapped by a Legion snare during an operation. Dustin Jaeger saw the brand on her back ("Whore's Daughter"). She participated in the strike operation at the Dragon Fang Mountain, covering the vanguard (Shin's squad) as a rear sniper while wearing the "Cicada," which was seen by Dustin Jaeger.
